CITYSCAPES
These paintings represent urban
landscapes dominated by billboards and modernist architecture. An environment
of flat surfaces: the facades of buildings, graffitied walls, shop windows,
signs and hoardings. Advertising images, as the symbols of the true
ideology of the city - the pursuit and accumulation of wealth - are
amongst the strongest and most prevalent surfaces in the city. But here
the tables are turned: graffiti replaces advertising.
